June 2017 Meeting

Join us Thursday for a full meeting where we’ll be discussing a ballot measure in the 2017 election, petitioning for our slate of 2017 candidates, and we’ll hear from a candidate for Congress in 2018.

Constitutional Convention
Thomas Bergdall, Senior Associate, Citizens Union
will be discussing the New York Constitutional Convention Referendum

Background: In November, New York State voters will decide whether they would like a constitutional convention to be held. New York’s Constitution allows the people to exercise this right once every twenty years.

The purpose of New York’s constitutional convention referendum is to implement New Yorkers’ inalienable right to alter their constitution in cases where the interests of the legislature and people conflict.

2018 Midterm Elections
Zach Emig is a declared candidate running against Rep. Dan Donovan for the NY-11 Congressional seat. Zach will be joining us to introduce himself to the club and share his vision for NY11 and tell us more about why he is running.

It all starts here. If you can’t get on the ballot you can’t win. Petitioning is where the rubber meets the road in changing how and who represents us. Petitioning also helps our club build it’s strength, it’s reputation, and add weight and value to our endorsements.

We know many of you are seasoned petitioners and campaigners, but just in case we’ll be doing a quick refresher course on everything you need to know this petitioning season.
